OMG! I love Ice Dyeing

I attended the CREATE 2014 Retreat again this year.  I was only able to take one class since I was in Ohio at the HOOT Convention.  I took a fabulous fabric dyeing class called Snow & Ice Dyeing with Cindy Lohbeck of Hands On Hand Dyes.  Below are the fat quarters I dyed.  I can't wait to make more.

Scrunched.

I did this purple with the leftover dye on the bottom of the bin.

Here's a link to the post from Jeanne Palmer Moore's blog on the Stitch and Paint class at CREATE Chicago.  There's a picture of the students in class.  I'm the lone cat lover.

PROJECTS FROM CREATE 2012

Here's my projects from the CREATE Retreat I attended in August.  This was the Shabori class I took.  It's amazing what you can do with a can and some string.  I used Setacolor fabric paints by Pebeo.  I really like these paints.  It's the first time I used them.

I also did Batik with Soy Wax.  That was a real fun class.  I never realized how many marks you can make with everyday items.  Can you guess what they are?

That snowflake looking pattern in the upper right-hand corner is the bottom of one of those plastic strawberry baskets.  I stamped a yard of fabric with that pattern and I'm going to paint it with Cobalt Blue for a great wintery themed fabric.

Below is my fabric from the Create Your Own Fabric class.  These were created with the Setacolor by Pebeo and Silks Acrylic Glaze by LuminArte .

This piece is going to be made into a pillow.

Create! 2010 - Medium.m4v

If you look close you'll see me in my class at CREATE! 2010.  This was such a great time.  I can't wait until CREATE! 2011.

First Ever Journal Page

My First Art Journal Page

I saw something about Art Journaling in Cloth Paper Scissors magazine and I was intrigued.  I wasn't sure how to start or what it was really about so when I saw that there was a class at CREATE,  I jumped at the chance to learn more.  In August 2010 I signed up for a class called Inspired Journaling Every Single Day with Melanie Testa.  She had us start out by writing down our fears, then we proceeded to cover the page with our favorite color.  We used all kinds of techniques.  It was a great way to try a little of everything.

The top bird, butterfly and the flowers in the lower right-hand corner are ripped from napkins.  The main bird was traced onto tracing paper then glued on with a glue stick and then painted to add some color.  I added glue-on crystals to the crown for some glitz.  I wanted to try everything Melly showed us, so there is alot going on with this page.  I was satisfied with the results!
